How do i actually bet on the super bowl in canada legally
ok so this is my first year actually wanting to put money on the big game instead of just watching with the guys. im in ontario btw. i keep hearing about single game betting being legal now but idk where to even start or which sites are legit up here. is it just like signing up somewhere or is there more to it? feel kinda dumb asking lol

not a dumb question at all, took me a while to figure it out too. single game betting is legal across canada now since 2021 so you're good there. if you're in ontario specifically you got even more options cause of the regulated market. i started on Boomerang Bet last year and the signup was pretty painless, just need your id and proof of address for verification. honestly the hardest part was deciding what to bet on lol. just dont go crazy on prop bets your first time, they're fun but you'll bleed money fast

can confirm. im in ontario too and the regulated sites are way better than what we had before. did my verification in like an afternoon and was placing bets by kickoff. the super bowl markets are insane btw, you can bet on literally anything

for what its worth, if you're outside ontario you'd typically use your provincial lottery corp site or one of the offshore books that accept canadians. ontario is the only province with a fully open regulated market right now. the rest of us are kinda stuck with the lottery options or grey market stuff

yeah out here in alberta we got play alberta which is the official one. works fine for the super bowl, odds arent always the greatest but its legal and payouts are no hassle. just depends what province OP is in really

wait so do you have to pay tax on your winnings? thats the part im confused about

nah for casual bettors in canada gambling winnings arent taxed. its considered windfall not income. only really matters if you're a pro doing it as a business which 99% of us arent lol

how long does it usually take to actually get your money out after you win? thinking of trying this for the game

depends on the method. e-transfer is usually 1-2 days for me on the ontario sites. credit card refunds take longer like up to a week sometimes. just make sure your account is fully verified BEFORE you try to withdraw or it'll get held

fwiw shop around for odds before you bet. the lines can be noticeably different between books especially on the prop markets. i keep accounts on a couple sites just to compare. couple cents on the dollar adds up over a season

same experience here, been using one of the regulated apps and its been smooth. verification took a day, deposits instant, and the super bowl coverage is honestly way more detailed than i expected. dont overthink it OP just start small and have fun with it
