ok so ive been trying to step away from betting for a bit and figured the easiest way is just to close my account completely. problem is i cant find the option anywhere in the settings lol. do i have to email support or is there some hidden button im missing? just wanna be done with it

yeah most sites bury that option on purpose tbh, they dont want you leaving. when i closed mine i just emailed support directly and asked them to permanently close the account, not just deactivate. with Boomerang Bet there was actually a self exclusion option in the responsible gambling section that did it for me without needing to talk to anyone. worth checking if they have something like that bc it stops you from just reopening on a whim

can confirm the self exclusion route is the way to go. i did the same thing last year and honestly it felt way more final than just deleting the app. the support team processed mine in like a day and i havent been able to log back in since which is exactly what i wanted

fwiw closing and self excluding are technically different things. closing just shuts the account but you can sometimes reopen it later. self exclusion locks you out for a set period (or permanently) and they cant let you back in even if you beg. depends what youre actually after

wait so if i self exclude on one site does that block me on others too? or is it just that one platform

depends where you are. in some places theres a national self exclusion register that covers multiple sites at once. but if you just do it through the one operator then ya its only that one site. the others you'd have to deal with separately

does closing the account mess with withdrawing your remaining balance? i still have a bit in mine and dont wanna lose it

no you withdraw first then close. most sites wont even let you close while theres money sitting in the account, theyll make you pull it out or verify your id before processing the closure. so do the withdrawal, wait for it to clear, then send the closure request

one thing to keep in mind is they have to keep some of your data for legal reasons even after closing, like transaction history for a few years. so account closed doesnt always mean everything wiped immediately. not a big deal just dont expect a full delete button

i read that the cooling off period is a good middle ground if youre not 100 percent sure. you can lock yourself out for like 24 hours up to a few weeks without fully closing. helped me when i was on the fence about it

same boat as OP a few months back and emailing support was honestly painless. told them i wanted it closed for gambling reasons specifically and they didnt try to talk me out of it or send a bunch of retention offers. closed within 48 hrs. good on you for stepping back man, hardest part is just deciding to do it
